Letty was 7/8 thoroughbred with a little Irish draught from her sire’s dam, giving her bone and substance whilst retaining her athleticism. Her breeding is eventing based, coming through the old HIS scheme through the renowned stallions Hoarwithy and Quality Fair.
She competed up to Pre-novice level during her career (and would have gone much further with a better rider than me!). Sound all her competitive life, she stopped eventing due to arthritic problems. A maiden mare at 15 yrs old, she produced a filly whose striding and presence will be ideal for eventing, and a colt with a superb temperament and who could do very well in showing classes as much as sport, and who will be big!
Both youngsters are a credit to Letty, and will undoubtedly exceed their dam’s competitive career with their lovely movement and easy laid-back temperaments – traits from both dam and sire that will help them to excel in anything they do.
Letty retired from breeding and became a schoolmistress at Easton College in Norwich – educating the many students there. She enjoyed it immensely, keeping her fit and interested, as well as giving the students a challenge to ride a well schooled, forward going horse with an extremely long stride and the odd buck!
She retired completely in 2017 and enjoyed herself in the field, keeping the youngsters on their toes. She was put down September 2018, but we still have her bloodlines through TawnyDun Tallula.
